Mission: The Soil and Water Conservation Society is a nonprofit, scientific and educational organization of professional conservationists. The Soil and Water Conservation Society fosters the science and the art of soil, water and related natural resource management to achieve sustainability. We promote and practice an ethic recognizing the interdependence of people and the environment.
Strategy: The Executive Council, in order to serve the All Ohio Chapter and it's membership, should make aggressive efforts to mange the following areas in order to advance the cause and effectiveness of the All Ohio Chapter. The performance elements and initiatives listed below are key performance elements for AOC activity and evaluation. They are consistent with the AOC Long Range Plan as adopted in 1995.

COMMITTEE STRUCTURE
Committees will meet one of the following criteria:
1. Deemed necessary by chapter by-laws [pdf],
2. Deemed appropriate for the long term general welfare of the chapter,
3. Approved by the Executive Council to achieve a specific objective identified by the council
KEY FACTORS
1. Aggressive committee leadership,
2. Clear understanding of committee objective & expectations,
3. Diverses committee membership,
4. Consistent communication with Executive Council,
5. Accountability to Membership
II. MEMBERSHIP & MEMBER DEVELOPMENT / SERVICE
A. MEMBERSHIP STRATEGY
1. A list of key individuals in the agricultural, natural resource and or conservation fields will be developed for the purposes of strategic recruiting,
2. The AOC will make diligent efforts to have a display for recruiting and marketing purposes at meeting of natural resource agencies and private sector groups,
3. A retention strategy needs to be developed to retain members with expiring memberships
B. MEMBER DEVELOPMENT
1. Every effort will be made to offer each new member an opportunity to join and participate on a chapter committee.
2. Provide, through appropriate committees and initiatives, opportunities for training, education and recognition of members
C. COMMUNICATION TO MEMBERSHIP
1. Newsletter, web site, forums
2. Each new member will receive personal recognition at the earliest chapter activity,
D. RETIREE SERVICE ASSESSMENT
1. An assessment will be completed to identify specific and critical areas for involvement by chapter members now retired from professional service.
III. LONG RANGE PLAN
A Long Range Planning Initiative needs to be established to anticipate the capabilities, needs, and performance objectives of the AOC and provide a framework it's guidance and evaluation for the next five years. Click here for the Strategic Vision.
