Officers > Nominating AOC-SWCS Officers by Petition
In a few months the All Ohio Chapter will again be electing persons to fill the positions of president-elect, secretary, and treasurer for one year terms and council member-at-large for two years. The AOC Bylaws, Article VIII, Section 2 provides that members may petition the Nominating Committee to place desired candidates on the ballot.
Section 2 states: "Any nominating petitions must be in the hands of the Nominating Committee by August 10 unless this date has been postponed by the Executive Council. Each nominating petition shall name but one candidate for a specific office and shall bear the signature of at least three(3) voting members of the Chapter. A member may sign only one petition for each office to be filled at any given election. The names of willing candidates provided by properly drawn petitions shall appear on the ballot, with one exception. Such a petition may be rejected by the Nominating Committee, only if in its judgment, the petition threatens an appropriate Executive Council balance as explained in Section 3". Balance refers to nomination of officers from among various institutions, agencies, and professions.
A nominating petition must show the names of the person with address, telephone number, and email address if possible, and the applicable office. Is the person willing to serve? Why are you nominating this person? The petition must bear the signatures of three dues paying members or in lieu of such an actual signature(s), be supported by an email endorsement(s). Send any petitions to arrive in the hands of _____________, Chair of the Nominating Committee by August 10, 200_. His address is _____ or email: ______
